High-altitude Hiking and Flying as a Pilot
“BHR surgery was transformative; I was hobbling on crutches prior to surgery and am now unrestricted for any physical activity I choose.”
The onset of osteoarthritis in my right hip was precipitous and debilitating. The chronic dull pain led to many sleepless nights and uncomfortable days. My wife (an internist) happened upon an article about BHR in one of her medical journals and suggested that I explore this procedure. After considerable self-study, I was convinced of the merits and advantages of BHR in lieu of the much more common THA approach. However I could not find a surgeon anywhere in my state to perform the operation — it was the recommendation of another orthopedic surgeon that led me to Dr. Rogerson. I was immediately impressed with his intellect, dedication, and humanity. The operation was uneventful and my recovery was rapid, in fact I returned to work in 10 days, was driving (manual transmission) in 14 days, and flying as pilot in 23 days.
Dr. Rogerson, Renee and Joanna and the entire staff at OrthoTeam exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and caring. BHR implantation is a complicated procedure that should only be entrusted to a surgeon with outstanding credentials and experience such as Dr. Rogerson. Kudos also go to the staff at Stoughton Hospital for their superb level of care and to the therapists at HipHab for getting me on my feet quickly.
